Meet Our Outreach Team
Executive Director & Site Supervisor
Terry Burnside
As the Founder and Executive Director of House of Hope Peoria, I am proud to serve as the Outreach Supervisor, overseeing a team of individuals I selected for their diverse backgrounds and commitment to our community. I believe that with our unified efforts, we can achieve our goal of reducing violence in our city. I am confident that we have assembled a team of like-minded individuals who share this vision.
Violence Interrupter
Terrill Rickmon
As a Peoria native and returning citizen, I am blessed with the opportunity to give back to the community I once harmed. My role goes beyond conflict mediation—I also provide mentorship to at-risk youth like myself, aiming to reduce violence in our community.
Outreach Worker
Lafelda Jones
As an educator in Peoria over a decade ago, I learned that the focus has often been on children rather than their parents. In my role as an Outreach Worker, I will support participants and guide parents of at-risk youth, helping them manage stress and develop the skills needed to properly support their children.
Outreach Worker
Candus Irby
Having spent much of my life giving to others, I neglected my own needs. The trauma I experienced in my earlier life and the skills I have learned living in Texas have equipped me with the appropriate techniques to manage my trauma and heal properly. As an Outreach Worker, I will not only assist with resources and community needs but also lead trauma support groups for women, including returning citizens, who lack the support to overcome their challenges and reduce violence among adult women.
Violence Interrupter
Dujuan Simmons
As a young entrepreneur impacted by violence, I am honored to be part of House of Hope Peoria as a Violence Interrupter. My goal is not only to reduce violence but also to mentor at-risk youth, guiding them towards becoming successful business leaders. I believe that giving them something to aspire to will help curb the violence that stems from a lack of purpose.
Violence Interrupter
Gyrune Linwood
As a returning citizen who has endured significant trauma, I have come to understand the importance of support systems. My role as a Violence Interrupter is not only to de-escalate violence but also to provide preventive support to adult men and women, helping to heal the hurt and reduce the violence affecting our Peoria community.
Violence Interrupter
Ryan Beck
As a Peoria native and proud survivor of recidivism, I am grateful for the opportunity to mediate potential violence and assist fellow returning citizens. My role involves not only applying conflict resolution skills but also providing techniques and support to help others avoid reoffending and contribute to reducing violence in our community.
